A lack of due diligence cost an accountant £25k

A sole practitioner has been excluded from the ICAEW and ordered to pay fines and costs totalling over £25,000, after he took over 13 years to carry out customer due diligence checks.

Over a number of years, an accountant was found to be lacking in a number of areas regarding anti-money laundering for several clients. During his ICAEW hearing, he was found at fault for a multiple of failings that resulted in a fine of over £12,000, plus costs of just over £13,000.

I'm sure we all agree due diligence is essential for many areas of an accountants' business. This includes areas such as payroll, which RollPay would be happy to assist you with. Please contact sales@rollpay.co.uk if you require any further support regarding your payroll needs.
