A tech company found itself in a legal battle with HMRC, after operating a VAT process that was non-compliant.

HMRC disputed 19 transactions made during the four monthly VAT periods ending March 2016 involving numerous items, refusing input tax recovery of £1,306,789 under the Kittel principles, on the basis there was an overall scheme to defraud the Revenue.

This case supports the thoughts that if something is too good to be true, it normally is!
