HMRC has changed its mind and confirmed that it does not intend to introduce Making Tax Digital for Corporation Tax (MTD for CT). This was originally scheduled to be implemented for tax year 2026/2027 but Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD for IT) has been the priority.

This was always a contentious issue with the accounting world, due to the complexities of Corporation Tax in general.

This decision has raised a few questions regarding compliance changes happening elsewhere. Aside from MTD, the requirement for small companies and micro entities to file a profit and loss account with Companies House, has also raised issues. This profit and loss uncertainty, might lead to more people incorporating to avoid MTD IT.
