The UK is facing severe recruitment challenges, particulary in the construction sector, with more than three-quarters (76 per cent) reporting difficulty in finding the skilled workers they need. This is according to a survey by City & Guilds.

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) estimates the industry will need to recruit an additional 239,300 workers by 2029; a figure many in the sector see as impossible based on current levels of skilled construction workers.

If you are looking to utilise self employed operatives to fill your skills gap, please be aware of the risk associated with using sub-contractors on a regular basis. HMRC has various pieces of legislation that can negatively impact your business.

Please give us a call on 0800 131 0131 to discuss ways of utilising any self employed individuals compliantly.
